Kids and Youth Classes

Kiwi Dragons 2018

For the young ones

Our Kiwi Dragons™ classes offer a specialised programme for kids under 9

Students learn martial arts skills through a progressive syllabus, teaching them the fundamentals in a fun environment.  One of the first skills they learn is how to get away if someone grabs them.  But students learn much more. Our programme focuses on development skills like memory, balance, co-ordination and control, as well as fostering good character by focusing on respect, discipline, patience and etiquette.

Our Kiwi Dragons™ programme will help your child to develop self-confidence and self-control in a fun way.

"Amazing! My son is so shy and the team have been working closely with him to encourage him to participate... they have gone the extra mile to do what ever it is to help my son to feel confident to overcome his shyness I can’t thank them enough for going the extra mile"...

"Our aim for our daughter was for her to gain confidence, fitness and most importantly FUN, which has been an ease to achieve through Kuk Sool Won, we highly recommend".

Fun for Kids

We run classes for kids aged 9 to 13

These classes:
  • Build fitness, strength, coordination and flexibility
  • Teach good manners and respect
  • Help kids develop self-confidence
  • Teach kids important self-defence techniques
  • Help those kids who are struggling with bullying
  • Teach listening and concentration
  • Encourage respectful leadership
Classes are an hour and teach children the Kuk Sool Won™ curriculum in a fun environment.  We encourage parents and caregivers to watch classes and support their child’s learning.

It is awesome to watch our young students grow in confidence and ability. Their respect, which we call etiquette grows so quickly as they learn about the martial art. We have seen this in class recently when a new student started. I was asked by a young 8 year old could she introduce herself to the new student so they would have a friend. Another student shared with me how he had seen a younger student enjoying introducing himself to the new student without being prompted or ask. The children we have in our classes are amazing, they love to train and love to be true martial artists by showing the greatest level of respect and interest in others.

""Great safe family environment. Facilities are great, the students all get on well and respect each other. Knowledgeable teachers and the classes have a great momentum with plenty of individual attention. The kids develop so quickly and love attending."

Youth learn about themselves

Our youth aged 13 years and above are taught in our adult classes. They have a dedicated instructor and are encouraged to help with the younger kids and take part in our instructor programme.

It is always hard to keep our youth interested with the many distractions of young adulthood. We try and give them a sense of achievement by pushing them more than the younger kids. Greater etiquette is expected as well as a higher standard of focus and ability.
They have done better being in the adult class rather than the kids class and have their own syllabus to reflect their abilities to work harder.

The youth students who currently train at our school are performing very well at their schools, demonstrating that Kuk Sool helps in all aspects in a young person's development.

"
Our daughter has just started adult classes this year - from the minute we inquired about the classes we felt welcomed - Caroline and Jane have been really helpful and made us feel like part of the Kuk Sool Won family very quickly. Our daughter is loving the classes and the people - highly recommend to everyone".

"My son loves going to the classes in Pukekohe twice a week. It's the first thing that he has actually stuck to. Highly recommend"
